Young Composers!
Congratulations to all the young composers who submitted their pieces to this year’s YRMTA Young Composers Competition!
Here are the results:
11 and Under
First place – Escaping Mouse by Ian Turcotte
Second place – Plane Ride by Arlo Biederman
Third place – Spirit’s Spell by Bennett Vermeulen
15 and Under
First place – Ragtime Hoedown by Nat Stark
Second place – Caribou by Rose Preto
Third place – Sunlit Escapade by Nigel Wise.
Also, special congratulations to Ruben Slobogean for winning first place in his age category with his piece Tricks of the Mind in the 2023 NATIONAL CFMTA Student Composer Competition! Due to some communication mix-ups we didn’t get the news about this until earlier this year – Way to go Ruben!
