2018 is the 50th Anniversary of the Rotary Music Festival. The festival is an annual music event held during the month of April every year in Whitehorse. Performance opportunities are offered to music students in a variety of classes in piano, flute, woodwinds, voice, strings, guitar, percussion, accordion, bands, choirs, ensembles and the festival now offers a dance component. Yukon has a wealth of young musicians, singers and dancers. Like Olympic athletes, they have a solid backup team who support them every step of the way. So, we thank their families and teachers who help them discover the joy of music and performance. This year is very special. We’re acknowledging an entire generation of people for whom music enriched and in some cases, directed the paths of their careers. What a rich legacy all those music teachers have created. Imagine, students who performed years ago at the Rotary Music Festival are now watching their own children perform!
